4 top fitness influencers give advice for healthy living

His workout routine
I choose different fitness components to focus on each day, without having to spend hours training. I do cross training – yoga for flexibility; cardiovascular training for my heart, like a spin class two or three times a week. Then I’ll follow that up with a sit-up or stretching workout. The other three days, I focus on strength training, with free weights or machines.
Rely on music to motivate yourself
I listen to my music. I love Motown, old-school music. I enter with my music in my ears and I leave with my music; it keeps me motivated and going. If I forget my music, I’m like, “Oh no, what am I going to do? “
How she mixes it
When I’m exhausted, I hire a trainer or start new activities. These have included joining a swim team, playing tennis and training for a marathon. I’m just kind of an adventurer by spirit. I like to try new things. Rollerblading is my new hobby. It’s a great workout.
His best starting tips
Establish a daily routine that you can stick to. If you haven’t done anything, start with something not too aggressive, like a 10-minute walk, and then slowly add to it. You will notice that you start to look forward to it.
You must also correlate that exercise is like brushing your teeth, just like combing your hair – it is something you must do. Once you start doing it, you will stop fighting it; it will become a normal part of what you do.
What she eats throughout the day
Breakfast: I drink a protein shake or a fruit with a little yogurt, granola, nuts or seeds. I try to eat whatever fruit is in season.
Lunch: Simple jobs for me: salad with greens, kale, arugula, veg, nuts and maybe fruit. I think a crunch factor is good because it helps keep you satisfied – cucumbers, carrots, radish, broccoli.
Having dinner: I like to have hot vegetables on a salad or rice or couscous, hot cauliflower steak, sweet potatoes.
The night : Popcorn is my treat. I pour a drizzle of olive oil over it and sprinkle with sea salt. I air-pop. I don’t have a microwave.
How she gives herself up, just a little
If I go out with a girlfriend and she eats something that I wouldn’t usually eat, like dessert or fried foods, I might indulge in it. I am not exaggerating. I will also have a cocktail from time to time.
How age matters in training
I spend more time warming up. I also notice that weight training is so essential in maintaining muscle tone. I always knew flexibility was important, but now I realize it even more.
I don’t feel the need to train at the intensity I had when I was between 20 and 30 years old. Strength training, sweating and consistency are now essential. I kind of take the easier approach because I don’t want to cause even minor injury. If anything made me stop, I’d just be a wreck.
