World Heart Day is celebrated around the world on September 29, and through the occasion the healthcare fellowship aims to remind people of awareness and commitment to a healthy heart. Unfortunately, cardiovascular disease is common today due to unhealthy lifestyle choices, lack of physical activity, external factors, and other co-morbidities. Therefore, the need of the hour is to ensure the health and general well-being of our hearts and to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Here are 5 simple lifestyle tips to keep your heart healthy-
1. Eat a healthy diet
Diet plays an essential role in reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease. It is advisable to eat a balanced diet with fruits, green leafy vegetables, lentils, high protein eggs and milk instead of junk food and processed foods. Avoiding excessive fatty foods and snacks will also keep fat levels low. Meals can be planned according to the nutritional needs of an individual.
2. Train and exercise
Living a healthy lifestyle would also involve adding physical activity to your daily routine. Exercising for 30 to 45 minutes a day, going for walks in the morning and evening, as well as a light cardio workout and stretching go a long way in keeping you in shape and keeping your heart healthy. For heart patients, it is advisable to cover greater distances to keep pace and stay active. In addition, it is crucial to fight obesity and avoid complications such as diabetes, high blood pressure.

3. Lifestyle modification and stress management

In addition to making sure that all of the above, individuals should be checked at regular intervals and follow any medications prescribed by their doctor. Constantly monitor your blood pressure and sugar levels, and when in doubt, the best practice is to always contact your doctor or physician.
