Try to breathe deeply to curb the urge to smoke

Strong points

  • Smoking affects your overall health, not just the lungs
  • Quitting smoking can lead to several withdrawal symptoms
  • Always remember the reasons why you decided to quit smoking

What Happens When You Stop Smoking? Smoking harms your health in more ways than one. After years of smoking, quitting this habit can be a daunting task. In fact, getting rid of this habit can seem almost impossible due to all the withdrawal symptoms. You might experience withdrawal symptoms such as confusion, irritability, anxiety, anger, and sometimes even constipation. However, these withdrawal symptoms are manageable. Nutritionist Nmami Agarwal has a set of solutions for you to manage them. She has discussed the same in her latest Instagram Reels. She captioned the post: “How do you deal with withdrawal symptoms when you quit smoking?”

Follow these tips to manage smoking cessation symptoms and cravings

1) Remember the reasons why you decided to quit smoking

2) Keep busy. “It still works,” she said.

3) remember the 3 Ds

– Drink water

– Deep breathing

– Do not recognize your desires

She asked users to delay the action on cravings for 5-10 minutes and added that it would eventually pass. She said the withdrawal symptoms are difficult, but it’s not impossible to manage them. “Make some big changes in your routine and it will help you avoid those triggers that tell your brain, ‘It’s time to smoke,'” she said.

Take a look at the Nmami coils here:

Nmami often offers some important but interesting health tips for viewers. A while back, the nutritionist shared some tips to help you fight altitude sickness. You may suffer from headaches, shortness of breath, and nausea when climbing a hill. This is because the oxygen level drops at high altitudes. She suggested avoiding alcohol for the first two days before going to climb. Avoid any food or drink that contains caffeine as it dehydrates the body, she added. Drink enough water and don’t skip your meals.

She also said that you have to fill your plate with complex carbohydrates. “Try to avoid fried foods as they can make you uncomfortable,” Nmami added.

Food cravings have gotten a bad rap, but there may be other ways of thinking about it as well, Nmami Agarwal said in another article. Sometimes the urge can be a sign that something is missing from your diet, Nmami pointed out. She shared a few ways to decode different types of food cravings in one of her posts.

Sugar cravings can indicate blood sugar imbalances and deficiencies of minerals like chromium and magnesium in your body. “So you recognize it and satiate yourself with natural sweet berries or other fruits,” she said. Cocoa is high in magnesium and therefore chocolate cravings can tell you that your body needs magnesium. For this, opt for fruits such as bananas, avocados among others. Likewise, she discussed carbohydrate craving, tea-coffee craving, and salt craving, among others, in this article.

In the meantime, if you want to quit smoking, start right away. Don’t worry about the withdrawal, it’s manageable, as Nmami Agarwal said.
