Wandering of the mind during meditation is very common when an unintentional and unrelated spontaneous shift in attention occurs and the mind tends to feast on varied thoughts that can disrupt the main task of developing a healthy, relaxed and stable state of mind. If you keep bringing your attention back to meditation every time your mind wanders, don’t worry because we’ve sorted you with 5 health tips from a yoga expert to combat mind wandering and achieve that evolution of mind. consciousness where we are more alert, self-aware, sensitive. and relaxed.

In an interview with HT Lifestyle, Yoga Master and Spiritual Guru – Grand Master Akshar – shared, “The purpose of meditation is to evolve our consciousness as humans living on this planet. In order to achieve this shift in consciousness, we must build ourselves to become more alert, self-aware, and sensitive to the environment around us. For the purpose of meditation, we need to find a calm and quiet place. Likewise, even as a practitioner, we need to develop a very relaxed and steady state of mind.

He listed 5 helpful tips to keep the mind from wandering during meditation:

1. Find a suitable environment

In order to achieve success in meditation, we need to create that perfect environment to meditate uninterrupted and undisturbed. Even athletes looking to improve the sport they play need the infrastructure and all the facilities to do so. They won’t be able to train in the best possible way if the ground is uneven or textured in a way that can impair performance. Countries that provide their athletes with enough space, training facilities and other requirements will win the most rewards, while on the other hand, poorer countries with struggling economies might not. not be able to extend the same number of facilities to the athlete. In this way, they will waste their opportunities to develop in the sport of their choice. This is why it is very important to create an environment conducive to meditation.

2. Alignment of thoughts with intention and action

Once we have the proper facilities in place that allow us to comfortably meditate in solitude, the next thing we need to look at is ourselves. Are your thoughts in alignment with the action you want to accomplish? This is something you need to consider before you sit down to meditate. For example, if you sit down to meditate but begin to feel distracted from wanting to go out and eat something or be at a party, your efforts will be wasted.

3. Make travel part of your life

If you stay rooted to one place and don’t travel, your life will lack the exposure it needs. If you want to thrive, you need to be someone who has experienced multiple cultures and interacted with a wide range of people. Without extensive life experience during your travels, you may be prone to becoming limited in your thoughts and narrow in your beliefs, unable to expand your mind.

4. Control your wandering mind

To be able to bring focus and discipline into your meditation practice you must be able to stop the mind because the mind can be a best friend or it can be turned into the greatest enemy we can have. . The mind influences us in a very powerful way, affecting the way we lead this life, so it is important for us to master the mind.

5. Practice yoga and mindfulness

To do this, you need to train the mind through various methods like mind mapping, mind control, neural training and neuroplasticity etc. Practicing yoga is a surefire way to master your thoughts.
