Mimi Luzon’s skin care secrets and tips for radiant skin
Mimi Luzon is a powerful name that dominates the skin care industry, having over 30 years of experience making a name for herself as the go-to facialist for A-listers. As a skin esthetician, Luzon developed her eponymous line of luxury products using unique formulations, including the cult 24K pure gold treatment. Today, Luzon serves an impressive list of loyal clientele, including Irina Shayk, Kaia Gerber, the Hadid sisters, and Naomi Campbell, to name a few. We caught up with the skin wellness expert to learn everything we need to know to get that summery glow during the warmer months.
What are your most essential summer skin care tips?
“As we move into the summer months, our skin care routines will require subtle changes. We should swap out our rich winter moisturizer for something lighter and more rosy, and step up our cleansing mask applications to fight summer breakouts. Additionally, we often make the mistake of avoiding moisturizers altogether, but hydration is all the more important in summer, as heat and sunlight affect our skin’s natural hydration.
“One of the most important steps is to apply SPF. Facial skin is extremely vulnerable to sun damage, so it’s essential to incorporate products that will protect your skin from harmful UV rays into your daily routine. Overexposure to the sun and environmental pollutants ultimately has an aging effect on our facial skin. “
Can you tell us about your recommended day and night skincare routine for your clients?
“During the warmer months, I often direct my clients to lighter cleaning, especially in the morning. Thicker, creamier cleansers work much better for the winter, when our skin needs all the nourishment it can get. I also recommend applying clay products. masks at least twice a week to prevent summer breakouts.
“Most importantly, my biggest tip is to wear SPF throughout the day – be sure to apply it as the last step in your skin care routine to protect yourself from harmful UV rays.
“For the night, I suggest using a more powerful cleanser (preferably one based on acids to make sure the SPF and any perspiration is completely dissolved), then applying serums / moisturizers at night.”

What are your top tips for getting glowing skin without breaking the bank?
“For glowing skin, exfoliation is important because it will help remove dead skin cells and leave it feeling soft, supple and smooth. Another way to achieve a flawless glow is to use a light reflecting oil or serum.
“Finally, cultivating a healthy lifestyle – drinking tons of water, eating lots of fruits and vegetables, exercising and sleeping well – is absolutely essential.”
What are the most interesting skincare trends you’ve come across in recent years?
“One of the most interesting trends I’ve come across was slugging, which involves applying petroleum jelly all over your face before bed – however, it’s definitely not something I would recommend.”
What are the most common mistakes in skin care?
- “Excessive exfoliation – this can lead to irritated and inflamed skin. Be sure to exfoliate with the appropriate acids that are good for your skin and stop if you experience any irritation.

What’s your most effective DIY recipe for the warmer months?
“My green tea mask is an excellent toxin cleanser and works to even out skin tone and give the complexion an instant glow.”
- 1 cup of green tea
- 2 cups of rice flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of honey
