Publication of the 2021 adult trout stocking calendar
The CBFP will start stockpiling two weeks earlier than usual, starting the week of February 15. Due to stocking operations beginning earlier, all streams designated as stocked trout water will be closed to angling from February 15 through Statewide Supervised Trout Fishing Day. and on the opening day of the statewide trout season.
Changes to the 2021 storage program
West Creek, Cameron County
A pre-season low will be added to the 8.4 mile section of stream stretching from the Rathbun Bridge downstream to State Route 3001 Bridge in Howard Siding. Previously, this water was stored only in season.
Whipple Lake, Huntingdon County
Stocking of mature trout will be reinstated in this 17-acre reservoir following the completion of dredging and dam maintenance. The lake will be stocked during the pre-season and seasonal stocking periods.
Mountain Branch, Central County
Decreased access to the stream due to deteriorating road conditions resulted in the removal of stocking trout from a 2.0 mile section of the stream extending from Trim Root Run downstream to the unnamed tributary 0.2 mile upstream of the mouth. Previously, this water was stored only in the preseason. Fish previously stored in this stream will now be stored in the Cold Stream Dam in Center County.
Straight Creek, County Elk
Decreased access to the stream resulted in the removal of trout stocking from a 2.8 mile section of stream extending from the first bridge upstream to Naval Hollow downstream to at the mouth. Previously, this water was stored only in season. Fish previously stored in this stream will now be stored at Hoffman Run in Elk County.
