Avoid sleeping in (even on weekends)
You might be tempted to lie down to try and catch up on your sleep, but sleep expert Stephanie Romiszewski warns that this “just perpetuates poor sleep cycles.”
She told Express.co.uk: “‘Catching up’ [on sleep] the weekend often just perpetuates bad sleep cycles and can lead to insomnia.
“It’s fine to sleep once in a while, but if you find yourself relying on that behavior and it forms a pattern.
“When we lie down, it’s hard for our brains to figure out when we’re falling asleep, because it looks like you’ve had ‘extra’ sleep even though you went to bed later and didn’t get any extra sleep.”
