“Alcohol puts a lot of pressure on the body and speeds up the aging process in several ways,” says Clara Lawson, RDN. “It promotes the release of stress hormones which accelerates the aging process. In addition, alcohol interferes with the normal functioning of the digestive system and limits its ability to absorb vital nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, proteins and carbohydrates. drinkers are malnourished and appear older than their age. “
