Yeri from Red Velvet talks about her healthy habits, how exercise has changed her life, and more.
Red Velvet’s Yeri recently took part in a photo and interview for Vogue!
Yeri appeared particularly excited during the photoshoot as she was able to pose in her favorite everyday clothes – Lululemon sportswear. “When I heard the news of the photoshoot, I couldn’t believe it,” she said. “Whenever I exercise, I wear Lululemon clothes that I bought with my own money. I couldn’t even imagine that I would take pictures for Vogue like this, so I’m really happy.
Yeri, who is currently filming for the web drama “Blue Birthday,” mentioned that she had just filmed a crying scene the day before her interview with Vogue. When asked what she did the morning after her crying scene, Yeri replied, “I did Pilates. I always need to exercise before a photoshoot. It became a habit. As my mind and body wake up, I feel more refreshed and energized. Of course, I also have breakfast.
As for what’s on her breakfast menu, Yeri said she drank a drink that she made herself by mixing ghee, coconut oil and milk from almond. “I also drink detox water which contains dried fruits as soon as I wake up,” she added. “It’s a method recommended by my Pilates instructor. You end up drinking more water and it balances your electrolytes. “
When the interviewer commented that Yeri’s name has almost become synonymous with “Pilates,” Yeri explained how the form of exercise became a turning point for her when she was in her early twenties.
She revealed, “When my Pilates instructor first saw me, they said I looked down and depressed. I was having tough times emotionally at the time. I thought the exercise would be hard as you sweat, but after working day in and day out I thought it was “refreshing” rather than “tiring”. From that point on, I ended up doing it consistently. After following this habit, many changes occurred. The biggest change was that my mind and body felt a lot more stable.
When the interviewer commented on one of Yeri’s recent Instagram posts where she wrote the caption “Mind body connection,” Yeri offered an explanation. “I have had the experience that you have to move your body in a healthy way for your mind to become healthy. When I had no interest in exercise, I knew nothing about this connection, ”she admitted.
Yeri continued, “I used to wake up without even opening my eyes properly and dragging myself through all the events on my schedule, but I don’t think I even knew what I was doing then. Today I wake up and eat healthy, and if I have something on my schedule, I need to work out. I work on my mind and body with the mentality of ‘Let’s wake up refreshingly.’ “
The interviewer expressed surprise at Yeri’s ability to perform advanced movements, which led Yeri to reveal with a laugh that when she first started Pilates she was remarkably bad. In order to improve myself, Yeri said, “I started making a video diary with my instructor to check my movements in more detail.” She also expressed the sense of accomplishment and newness that she feels whenever she observes her own improvement.
Yeri noted that although she had always been flexible, she realized that because she had no muscle she felt wobbly, laughing as she said, “I was like an eraser!” Yeri went on to confess, “Since I wasn’t confident at the time, I wore workout clothes that offered more coverage. However, it was difficult to see the changes in my body this way, so I wore various other workout clothes in order to increase my confidence. I ended up naturally observing my own body more and wanted to work more in certain areas. After changing my workout clothes, I was able to feel the changes in my body.
When asked what she finds most important when exercising, Yeri pointed out three things. “My top priority is the clothes I exercise in,” she noted. “Since I always look at myself in the mirror while I exercise, the appearance factor is important. Also if my outfit is too tight or too thick it gets sticky with sweat and I feel uncomfortable and can’t move too. That’s why I love Lululemon. It’s as comfortable and light as my own skin, so I don’t even feel like I’m wearing clothes.
For her second and third exercise priorities, Yeri chose an exercise space that provides a sense of stability and a good vibe with the people she trains with.
Moving on to a discussion of Yeri’s current drama, she revealed that she had a nosebleed the day after her first day of filming. “It was very taxing mentally and I used more force than I expected,” she said. “It was like that at first, but I gathered my spirits and pulled myself together. I have started to train more vigorously and diligently take multivitamins. I watch what I eat, but I certainly can’t starve. I think a lot about the menu items I can eat that are both healthy and delicious. “
When the interviewer expressed her curiosity about whether or not she was cooking, Yeri replied, “Recently I made salads. I eat salads with arugula, avocado, tomatoes, coconut milk and oil, as well as mozzarella cheese.
Even though she used to assume that dishes filled with vegetables were tasteless, Yeri said her state of mind changed one day as she ate instant food and thought, “Did I? really love me doing this? ” She explained, “It was after I decided to think about how to love myself that I started exercising and making healthier meals.”
Yeri pointed out that all of her ideas came from when she started looking inward and scrutinizing herself. “After working out and eating mostly healthy foods, I naturally started to take more interest in skin care, so I do a face mask every day. Although it’s not something out of the ordinary, I feel like I’m perfecting myself by developing lifestyle habits one by one.
Yeri concluded the interview with a message of strength and encouragement to readers, sharing, “My healthy lifestyle was created when I started loving myself. We’re all going through a tough time, and most of all I feel like my peers are forgetting how to take care of and love themselves. Don’t neglect yourself. Take more interest in yourself.
